Tumor Necrosis Factor Inhibitors are medications that help stop inflammation. TNF inhibitors are often also called TNF blockers, biologic therapy, or anti-TNF drugs. They are often used to treat autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, plaque psoriasis, ankylosing spondylitis, ulcerative colitis, and Crohn’s disease. Example of medications: Remicade, Enbrel, Humira, Cimzia, Simponi (and many more.) Depending on the drug prescribed by your physician you will either have an intravenous infusion (infusion into the vein through a catheter) or a subcutaneous shot (deepest layer of skin).
